Linjia Xu is an associate professor at School of Chinese Language and Literature, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing, China. She is currently visiting University of Georgia as a visiting scholar. She is the secretary general of Chinese Society for Science Communication and Science Education. Xu received her PhD from Renmin University of China, and finished her post-doctoral program at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She visited Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania from 2010 to 2011.

Her current research projects are to explore publics’ attitudes and behaviors towards scientific and health issues and understand the information diffusion mechanism in new media context.
She is hosting a grant from Chinese Social Science Fund about publics’ attitudes and behaviors towards climate change and media strategies. She has written a book about international branding in Chinese and published journal articles appeared in Public Understanding of Science, International Journal of Communication, and Asian Journal of Communication. She also published journal articles in leading Chinese academic journals.
