Alessandro Lovari, Ph.D.
Alessandro Lovari (Ph.D, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy) is as Assistant Professor of Sociology of Communication at the University of Cagliari (Italy) where he teaches Marketing and Advertising, Public Sector Communication, and Sociology of Communication. Before joining the University of Cagliari, Lovari worked for the University of Sassari (Italy), where he taught Corporate Communication, Strategies of Public Communications, and Social Media for Public Administrations.

He has been a visiting research scholar at Purdue University (Brian Lamb School of Communication, 2009-2010), University of Cincinnati (Department of Communication, 2014), University of South Carolina (School of Journalism and Mass Communications, 2016), and Virginia Commonwealth University (Robertson School of Media and Culture, 2019) in the United States.
His main research interests are public sector communication, public relations, health communication and the study of the relationships between institutions, media and citizens. He also studies the characteristics of Web 2.0 and social media and their impact on companies and citizens’ behaviors and communicative practices. He is a member of the scientific committee of the Italian Association of Public and Institutional Communication, member of the European Project “Creative”, and member of the board of the master program in Corporate Communication at the University of Siena, Italy. Before entering the academia, he worked for a decade as a PR professional for many private and public sector organizations. He is associated to ICA (International Communication Association), ESA (European Sociological Association), Euprera, and AIS (Associazione Italiana Sociologia).
He has 8 books (3 authored and 5 co-edited), and his works have been published in several edited books and in numerous national and international journals such as Public Relations Review, Health Communication, Journal of Public Affairs, International Journal of Strategic Communication, PRism, Problemi dell’Informazione, Sociologia della Comunicazione.
